What is design thinking ?

Design thinking is a method and approach to problem-solving and innovation, grounded in human-centered design. Regardless of the application area, empathy, creativity, co-creation, iteration, and the right to make mistakes are at the core of this innovation methodology.
This method focuses on the individual behind both the problem and the solution, and involves asking questions like, 'Who will use this product?' and 'How will this solution affect the user?’
The whole process, at each phrase of design thinking, has an iterative methodology. It allows designers to create and test ideas quickly and since it is user & human centered, it is important to test & refine the solution, or properly define the problem.

For each phase :
  1. Discover
This phase focuses on narrowing the design thinking process by identifying the core problem through observation and research. It's about understanding the issue and past obstacles without assumptions.
  2. Define (ideate)
After gathering insights, the problem is reframed into a clear statement or question. With the problem defined, ideation begins. The goal is to overcome cognitive biases and create innovative solutions.
  3. Develop
In this phase, multiple solutions are developed through prototyping, testing, and refining concepts. It’s not about perfection, but about experimenting and identifying what works.
  4. Implement
The final phase is about testing, reflecting, and iterating on solutions. This may involve revisiting earlier stages for refinement. It's a nonlinear, iterative process that includes sharing results with stakeholders and learning from the experience to drive further innovation.
